CARMIGNANO D.O.C.G.The elegance of a wine able to age years and years!

Description

This tour will bring you in an area (west of Florence) where the production of wine and olive oil was started by Etruscan.
Lorenzo Il Magnifico built here a Villa in a revolutionary innovation: completely open to the landscape; inside decoration of Filippino Lippi, Pontormo and many artists working for the Medici family.
In 1716 this area was chosen by the Grand Duke Cosimo Medici the third to be one of only four areas dedicated to wine production in Tuscany ; the producers of the Carmignano region developed a tradition of blending Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon, a tradition that in the 20th century will give birth to the “Super Tuscan\\\".
By visiting those Carmignano vineyards, farms and cellars, you will understand the history of this grait wine.
In this tour you will visit one of the most beautiful villas belonging to the Medici Family, wanted by Lorenzo Il Magnifico the center of renaissance.
You will have the chance to visit 2 different cellars: Two different places in the heart of Carmignano DOCG, two different wines, two different philosophies.
You will see how a bottle of this precious wine “grow”, from the Heart to the consumer. We will show you how a wine-maker creates a Wine, a blend of at least 50 percent sangiovese, up to 20 percent cabernet sauvignon, plus 20 percent caniolo nero and five percent mammolo and/or colorino.
You will taste 3 different Wine “born” in Carmignano DOCG:
 A white wine made of Trebbiano and Malvasia del Chianti,
 A Rosè wine 100% Sangiovese and
 A “Riserva” of Red Carmignano, though not as powerful as its Tuscan cousins whose grapes come from lower altitudes, has firm tannins, slightly lower acidity and a great deal of herbaceous aromas.
All those wines are on the Slow Wine Guide and will be match with typical Tuscan finger food .
